Wine Dinners
THE RIVER BAR AND RESTAURANT CHAMPAGNE & WINE DINNER SERIES 2013 - 2014 Following the success of our 2012/2013 wine dinners programme, we have again invited some of the world’s finest wineries back to The Lowry Hotel along with some exciting new ones of course.
The upcoming programme of exquisite wine dinners offers elegant wines and delectable cuisine, the result of an inspired collaboration between Huseyin Bozkurt our Restaurant Manager and our Executive Chef Andrew Wilkie.
The experience begins at 6.30pm with aperitifs in The Library or Terrace weather permitting, followed by an introduction to the wines of the evening, presented by the winemakers themselves, followed by a four-course dinner served at 7.00pm. Each course of the dinner is expertly designed to perfectly complement the wines selected for the evening.
These exclusive dinners are limited to 22 people per event and provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate whether it’s your birthday, anniversary or you just fancy a night of great food and wine.
The team have also launched the “Create your own wine dinner” the perfect evening for friends, family or colleagues. Friday 26th October 2013 Laurent Perrier £85.00 per person Brut non-vintage is always the expression of the house style and, as such, it is the signature champagne. Laurent-Perrier Brut’s style is defined by its very high proportion of Chardonnay which provides a natural purity, freshness and elegance. These essential characteristics, expressed in all our champagnes, are a good introduction to the spirit of Laurent-Perrier.
Friday 29th November 2013 – Italian Tuscan wines £95.00 per person Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world and Italian wines are renowned worldwide both for their quality and for their broad variety. Italy shares with France the title of largest wine producer in the world, its contribution representing about 1/3 of world production.
Friday 13th December 2013 - Krug Champagne £150.00 per person Krug was established in 1843 by Johann-Joseph Krug, a German immigrant from Mainz on the Rhine. In relative terms, this makes it a middle-aged to young house. Johann learned his trade at Champagne Jacquesson for nine years before setting up Krug at Reims.
Friday 31st January 2014- Riesling / Alsace variety around the world £85.00 per person Riesling is a white grape variety which originated in the Rhine region of Germany. Riesling is an aromatic grape variety displaying flowery, almost perfumed, aromas as well as high acidity. It is used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling white wines. Riesling wines are usually varietally pure and are seldom oaked.
Friday 28th February 2014-Billecart Salmon Champagne £85.00 per person Founded in 1818, by Nicolas Francois Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon, champagne Billecart-Salmon is synonymous with excellence and perfection. Billecart-Salmon, situated in Mareuil-sur-Ay, is one of the few remaining champagne houses to be owned and led by the original family, now in its seventh generation.
Friday 28th March 2014- Rhone Valley £75.00 per person The first cultivated vines in the region were probably planted around 600 BC. The origins of the two most important grape varieties in the northern Rhone (Syrah and Viognier) are subject to speculation.
Friday 25th April 2014- Pol Roger Champagne £85.00 per person Pol Roger, a Champenois from Aÿ, founded his champagne house in Epemay in 1849. Over the next 50 years, until his death in 1899, he built his business into one of the most respected in Champagne and, in particular, forged strong trade links with Britain.
Friday 25th May Gala Dinner £120.00 per person For this evening we shall select what we believe to be the best wines. This special menu will comprise of one dish and one wine from each evening of the series. Not to be missed
