A Rock and Roll Feast in Pictures at The Lowry Hotel
Patrice de Villiers showcases her new work – LoveMusicLoveFood
Thursday 9th February – Tuesday 20th March
February 2012 - Rocco Forte’s The Lowry Hotel in Manchester welcomes Patrice de Villiers along with her new book project, LoveMusicLoveFood created in the name of the Teenage Cancer Trust to its innovative 24hr gallery.
The idea for the book came about during a meeting at The Lowry Hotel with Muse front man Matt Bellamy who divulged that he makes his own pasta and so the idea was born to combine the epicurean delights of food and music in a collection of sumptuous, surreal images portraying the great and good of the music industry with the food they love. Bringing back the book and the exhibition to the place were it all started made perfect sense to Patrice.
The first floor gallery area at The Lowry Hotel is enjoyed by hundreds of people every week who are either staying at the hotel or visiting the renowned River Bar and Restaurant or spa facilities. It is also the first twenty-four hour gallery space in the North West which can be visited at any time, be it early morning over breakfast, late in the evening over cocktails or even in the middle of the night.
The LoveMusicLoveFood exhibition opens on the evening of Thursday 9th February and consists of photographic prints of the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, resplendent is a sparkly cocktail dress propping herself up against the ‘Chippy’ counter, Noel Gallagher stood next to his guitar case overflowing with Yorkshire tea bags and Paloma Faith as the Birth of Venus, only with a large pan of mouth watering paella in her hands. The images capture the beauty of Patrice de Villiers creative talents of pushing the boundaries on food photography, whilst at the same time capturing the personalities of the musicians.
Patrice de Villiers worked alongside music journalist Andrew Harrison, who penned the interviews, and rock and roll caterer to the stars Sarah Muir, who created the recipes. Patrice and her team enlisted the help of many other talented individuals and companies who generously donated their time and services to the project.
