The Lowry Hotel in Manchester launches the Ultimate Football Experience
Manchester, September 2012 – With the football season now underway, Rocco Forte’s The Lowry Hotel in Manchester has teamed up with the city’s leading football institutions to offer guests of all ages a wide range of exclusive football experiences.
Home to Manchester United and Manchester City, the city is the undisputed capital of football and the hotel has partnered with newly opened National Football Museum, the Professional Football Association and New Manchester Walks, to give fans an exclusive insight into the beautiful game.
The Lowry Hotel’s football expert, Head Concierge Russ Green and his team have searched the city for a series of bespoke footballing programmes available to the hotel’s guests. Canadian-born Russ is no stranger the football world – starting out as youth player for the provincial All Star Team in Manotiba, he has played for various professional teams in Canada and the US, before moving to the UK to play for Premier League team Wigan Athletic F.C.
As part of the Manchester Football Package, guests can start the day with a guided tour of the National Football Museum where they will be able to browse the greatest collection of football memorabilia ever assembled before testing themselves against the professionals; keeping their nerves in a penalty shootout, having a go at commentating a match and soaking up the pressure at Wembley Stadium at the impressive Football+ Experiences.
The hotel has put Russ’ knowledge to further use to create a series of bespoke experiences for football fans. At an additional cost, Legends tours and lunches with former players at both Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium and Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium can be arranged. Those wanting to dig deeper into the sporting history of the city, can join one of New Manchester Walks’ guides on a journey through the great game, reliving the heroics and antics of the Holy Trinity: Best, Law and Charlton – three legendary British players and discovering sites such as the Royal Hotel Picadilly where the world’s first professional football league was set up in 1888.
For guests wishing to discover more about their favourite players, the hotel’s Football Expert can also arrange for fans to meet with a hero from a Premier League team*. They will be able to relive memorable match moments, discuss tips and tactics and share anecdotes over lunch, dinner or drinks at The Lowry Hotel.
