The Lowry Hotel Shortlisted For Tourism Oscar
The Rocco Forte Collection’s The Lowry Hotel is down to the final three in the Large Hotel of the Year category for the annual Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, the tourism industry’s highest accolades.
Organised annually by Visit England, the awards recognise the best of the country’s tourism businesses and professionals, the winner will be announced at the national awards ceremony in Brighton on 23rd April 2010.
The prestigious Lowry Hotel is one of only three finalists in the running to win the Enjoy England Tourism accolade for ‘Large Hotel of the Year’. All finalists have undergone rigorous judging from tourism industry experts and The Lowry Hotel; Thurlstone Hotel in South Devon and South Lodge Hotel in West Sussex have managed to beat hundreds of other entries to secure their spots in this year’s final.
Since opening in 2001 The Lowry Hotel and its staff have been awarded 47 awards and accolades. National and International awards include The Best Large Hotel at The Enjoy England Awards in 2004; The Best UK Hotel for Service Standards by Conference and Incentive Travel Magazine; 4th best hotel in the UK to hold a conference or event by Conference and Incentive Travel Magazine and the 12th Best Business Hotel in Europe by CNBC. Locally, The Lowry Hotel has recently won The best large hotel at the Manchester and North West Tourism Awards; The excellence award at The Salford Business awards and won the Best Large Hotel at The Northern Hospitality Awards in 2008.
Award officials have stated that the winner of the ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ award will have shown commitment to providing excellent accommodation, services and customer care in addition to strong environmental policies. They will also have had to have invested in staff training and development and made provision for disabled guests in line with the new Disability Discrimination Act.
