Following the success of our wine dinners programme, we have again invited some of the world’s finest wineries back to The Lowry Hotel along with some exciting new ones of course. The upcoming programme of exquisite wine dinners offers elegant wines and delectable cuisine - the result of an inspired collaboration between Huseyin Bozkurt our Food & Beverage manager and our Executive Chef Andrew Green.
The experience begins at 7:00pm with aperitifs and an introduction to the wines of the evening, presented by the winemakers themselves, followed by a four-course dinner served at 7.30pm. Each course of the dinner is expertly designed to perfectly complement the wines selected for the evening.
Places are limited so an early reservation is strongly recommended.

Friday 28th October 2016 Louis XIII cognac dinner including French wines £135
This promises to be a memorable evening sampling the revered Louis XII cognac. The grape is the heart and soul of cognac. Rémy Martin, only use grapes from the highest-quality growing regions, or crus—the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, together called the Fine Champagne. These crus are characterized by exceptionally chalky soil, which reflects light and ripens the grapes to absolute perfection.
Friday 25th November 2016 Bollinger Champagne dinner £120
The story began with Athanase de Villermont, the youngest son of a noble family with a brilliant destiny. A great soldier who shone during the American War of Independence, he inherited an extensive estate from his family in the Aÿ area. He immediately foresaw the extraordinary potential of the wines of Champagne, but as an aristocrat he was forbidden to become involved in trade.
He then met Joseph Bollinger, a widely travelled German who had left his country of birth to learn about the Champagne wine trade, and Paul Renaudin, a local man who was fascinated by the world of wine. The firm of Renaudin-Bollinger & Cie was founded on 6th February 1829. Joseph took care of sales and Paul of the cellar. Athanase had founded a champagne House that was to endure through the centuries.
Friday 16th December 2016 - Billecart Salmon Champagne dinner £110
Founded in 1818, by Nicolas Francois Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon, champagne Billecart-Salmon is synonymous with excellence and perfection. Billecart-Salmon, situated in Mareuil-sur-Ay, is one of the few remaining champagne houses to be owned and led by the original family, now in its seventh generation. Heritage has joined forces with the most modern of winemaking techniques to create legendary cuvées. Their distinctive finesse, elegance and harmony have gracefully helped celebrate a number of those precious moments.
Friday 27th January 2017- Argentinian Malbec wine Dinner £85
Rediscover the Roots of Traditional Old Vine Malbec Populations Casarena is here to stay. When planting new vineyards he house knew that we were making a decision for 20, 30 or 50 years. With With the priceless help of Alejandro, they conducted a Malbec clonal and Massal selection experiment. For those of us not trained in viticulture, talking about vine clones, massal selection might sound very complicated and mysterious. But Alejandro was very clear with us and this evening we will learn how this is conducted.
Friday 24th February 2017-Pommery Champagne dinner £110
Madame Pommery had two words to describe her champagne: cheerful lightness. Taking it one step further, Pommery stands for delicacy and vivacity, heart and spirit, a style made of finesse whose musical score highlights the elegance of aromas before their power. It is a style full of freshness, with notes that come together like a witty dialogue, remaining on the palate with tender flavours.
The grapes are pressed in traditional presses that contain 4,000 kg of grapes, from which 2,550 litres of juice are extracted. Initial alcoholic fermentation turns the grape juice contained in the vats into wine, under the action of selected yeasts. Several wines made from different varietals, different crus, or different vintages, are blended to create and perpetuate the Pommery style.

The ale Vineyard Sparkling Chardonnay 2003 beat off stiff competition from fine Champagnes and top sparkling wines to make it into the world’s Top Ten Sparkling Wine at the world’s only dedicated sparkling wine competition, French-based Effervescents du Monde (sparkling wines of the world) 2007
Friday 28th April 2017- Dom Perignon Champagne dinner £160
The ultimate in luxury, super premium Champagnes, this is definitely an ‘A’ lister on all Champagne lists, and a coveted acquisition for any wine cellar. It commands high prices at auctions all over the world and is frequently selected as the Champagne served at prestigious occasions, such as the marriage of the Prince of Wales to Lady Diana Spencer.

For this evening we shall select what we believe to be the best wines. This special menu will comprise of one dish and one wine from each evening of the series. Not to be missed
Each evening starts at 7:00pm in the library for drinks and canapés, followed by dinner at 7:30pm in the private dining room.
