Make Events is one of the leading corporate events agencies in the Manchester staging some of the industry’s biggest and most unique events. Working with brands such as Kellogg's & Betfred, their "ambition is to bring the creativity and energy of a party to a conference" has made them an exciting partner for The Lowry Hotel to work with.

In February, Holly and her team used The Lowry Hotel to host their conference - Lets Grow 2019. In her blog, Holly discusses why she chose us for such an important event.

Scott Brown, Director of Sales at The Lowry Hotel: “Here at The Lowry Hotel we work with a number of Corporates and Event Agencies as venue for their events and for one of those Agencies to choose us to host their own annual conference is a real privilege.
Not only is Holly a partner of ours but she is also a true inspiration with both her creative flair and fierce determination to create magical moments for her customers. The Lowry Hotel’s meeting space is a neutral yet sophisticated canvas for organisers to create truly inspired events.”

Venue Finding - A Venue with a Story
By Holly Moore, Director & Founder of Make Events.

Our internal Venue Finding department were tasked to find the perfect location for Make Events inaugural conference - Let's Grow 2019. Their top suggestion was The Lowry Hotel. The Lowry is a beautiful 5 star hotel but it doesn't sit in the quirky venue bracket you might expect Make Events to pick.

I said in a previous blog that this conference was about revisiting where we had come from and getting the team to understand the WHY?

In July 2012 I attended my first networking event as Make Events at The Lowry Hotel. I didn't know anyone. How would people react when I said my business was one week old?  Whilst I was there I asked for a meeting with The Lowry events team. I asked whether there was the opportunity for those clients with a smaller budget to use Make Events? Over a coffee I gave out my grey logo business card and they said they would keep me in mind. I didn't expect to hear anything.

A week later I got a phone call a girl called Lea, her Dad was having a 70th birthday party and needed a party planner. The Lowry had recommended me. The rest is history in the Make Events story and Fred Done became Make Events first ever new business client. I am proud that today, some 6.5 years later, Fred and his family remain our clients. Fred has been instrumental in the company's success, not only because of his parties which have included Kylie Minogue, Ronan Keating and Gary Barlow to name a few. But also because he gave us credibility. People thought Fred Done can afford any events company; I wonder why he's chosen a new kid on the block?

We asked him just that question when we invited him to our conference as a key note speaker. "Its about the people; the attention to detail; Holly and the team have never let me down."

So The Lowry provided the first networking event for Make Events and the first piece of new business so it seemed very fitting to be our conference location and take us back to the start.

Tom, Scott and Adrian at The Lowry looked after us with their every trusted 5 star service.

What I love about The Lowry Hotel:

  • On site parking
  • Your own conference entrance that can be fully branded
  • The decor is modern and clean so you can completely transform the space to bring your brand to life

  • All the conference facilities are on the same floor
  • The bedrooms are spacious and so easy to get to conference room in the morning
  • Their new healthy lunch conference menu is my ideal meal
  • We had afternoon tea at one of the lunches (with champagne) which gives variety when there for multiple days
  • I love the bar for drinks, the coffee are always served with homemade biscuits and the drinks always have a selection of nuts and olives - magic touches
  • The location is great for going outside of the hotel to eat

When looking for the best venue for your event not only think of logistics but think of alignment to your brand and message. For us we wanted to take the team back to 2012 - where it all began.
