Self-Care Summer has arrived at The Lowry Hotel

International Self-Care Day is on the 24th July and it raises awareness of taking care of your mental, emotional and physical wellness. Making sure your mind, body and soul feel revived. The day was created to remind people that self-care is important for many things, including:

  • Improving the quality of life
  • Preventing health conditions
  • Managing chronic illnesses

Whether you take a hike for some fresh air or curl up with a good book, take this day to relax and practice self-care. Something as small as having a few extra minutes of sleep a day can boost your mental wellness just that little bit more, because self-care lasts a lifetime, not just one day. Committing to self-care can be a small action such as switching off your phone for ten minutes before bed to joining the gym and exercising five times a week.

Me-time or We-time?

Many people prefer to spend time by themselves, enjoying quiet time away from environments that could usually be very pressuring and stressful. When those situations arise, people usually have taking care of themselves on their low priority lists however, it’s known that self-care and spending quality time with yourself can help reduce anxiety and mitigate stress levels.

On the other hand, bonding with loved ones, or even spending time with a community of like-minded people can boost your mental wellness. Connect with your co-workers and peers or reach out to those you’ve not seen in a while. Summer is the perfect time to create memories with friends and take care of yourself, whether it be a long walk or a pamper day.

It’s not just what’s on the outside that counts

This International Self-Care day, remember to look after your insides just as much as you will your outside.
